Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia. Atlanta was established in 1847 at the intersection of two railroad lines, and the city rose from the ashes of the Civil War to become a national center of commerce. In the decades following the Civil Rights Movement, during which the city earned a reputation as "too busy to hate" for the progressive views of its citizens and leaders, Atlanta attained international prominence. Atlanta is the primary transportation hub of the Southeastern United States via highway, railroad, and air, with Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport being the world's busiest airport since 1998.Geographically, Atlanta is marked by rolling hills and dense tree coverage. Revitalization of Atlanta's neighborhoods, initially spurred by the 1996 Olympics, has intensified in the 21st century, altering the city's demographics, politics, and culture.

Piedmont Park is a 76 ha urban park in Atlanta, Georgia, located about 1.6 km northeast of Downtown, between the Midtown and Virginia Highland neighborhoods. Originally the land was owned by Dr. Benjamin Walker, who used it as his out-of-town gentleman's farm and residence. He sold the land in 1887 to the Gentlemen's Driving Club (later renamed the Piedmont Driving Club), who wanted to establish an exclusive club and racing ground for horse enthusiasts. The Driving Club entered an agreement with the Piedmont Exposition Company, headed by prominent Atlantan Charles A. Collier, to use the land for fairs and expositions and later gave the park its name. The park was originally designed by Joseph Forsyth Johnson to host the first of two major expositions held in the park in the late 19th century. The Piedmont Exposition opened in October 1887 to great fanfare. The event was a success and set the stage for the Cotton States and International Exposition which was held in the park seven years later in 1895. Both exhibitions showcased the prosperity of the region that had occurred during and after the Reconstruction period. In the early 20th century, a redesign plan called the Olmsted plan, was begun by the sons of New York Central Park architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. The effort led to the addition of scenic paths in the park and the joining of the park with the Ansley park system. Throughout the 20th century, many improvements have been made in the park, including the addition of covered picnic areas, tennis facilities, the Lake Clara Meer dock and visitors center.

All FO members. I'm a US Army Active Duty Officer currently deployed to Afghanistan as part of Task Force Medical - Afghanistan (TF Med-A). We coordinate all medical health care to US and coalition forces. We have a excellent military hospital located on Bagram Air Field. Some of my fellow Soldiers and I came up with an idea to display as many Star Bucks US Icon mugs as we can around the headquarters building and the hospital. The intent is to get representation from as many locations around the country. We have been asking family and friends to send us mugs as well as been contacting VFW organizations to see if they would be willing to donate. If anyone is interested in participating in the project please contact me at caseman@hotmail.com. We will display your mug with a slip of paper inside stating who donated it. You could even add a personal note with the mug for Soldiers and staff to read.I think this is a unique project and thought I would post it here for anyone interested. Thanks,John
