dear collectors, what is usually done when you get damaged mugs?
Receiving a broken mug is always sad, and puts you in a difficult situation, I know that from personal experience.
First and foremost, complain to the postman who brought you the parcel (I always shake parcels to listen if anything may be broken). Shipments are often insured, but you need proof that it was broken in the mail. The actual complaint may need to be filed by the sender though.
So, the next step is to contact the sender. If the parcel was insured, the sender has to complain at the post office, and will receive a refund (but may need proof from you for that). Then the sender should use that refund to send you a replacement for the broken mug. That may not always be possible, but a decent trader will be open to negotiations.
If the sender refuses to compensate you, and the parcel was not insured, you're in a unfortunate situation. If the mug broke despite good packaging by the sender, you should not hold that against the sender, but if the sender did not package decently, you should tell the sender that you will complain (for eBay sales to eBay and PayPal, for FredOrange trades right here to warn other traders). If you still don't get a decent response, *do* complain publicly.
I always replace broken mugs, no matter what. Thats just me, it doesn't work this way for others, though. I have received broken mugs, caused by poor irresponsible packing and i didnt get a replacement or even an email acknowledging it. Believe it or not I quit trading or even communicating with that person who sent me a broken (montreal) mug. So let us know privately and we will quit trading with that person too.
Me too... i do replace, ...
but some do not and i come not to wonder why others have so much mug.
Just got back from a trip to NZ and every mug North Island, South Island, Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown was sold out. If anyone is going and/or has these and can get them for me I would pay in advance. thanks!
