It was the bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded and two outs.
We were down 3-0. I was up – a.219 short stop.
I swung at the first pitch. Crack. It just missed the left field foul pole as the ball soared over the fence. The roar was deafening. I stood there and watched the ball until the first base coach practically dragged me around the bases. Home Run !
