This mug is very rare as it has been recalled. The reason is that Pittsburgh has been mispelled: without an "h".

"Philly cheese steak and a cup of Starbucks Coffee go hand in hand"
"the nation's oldest pretzel factory is in Lititz. PA"
"established in 1765, the University of Pennsylvania's Medical School is the oldest in the U.S."
"the oldest natural history museum in the U.S. is the Academy of Natural Science in Philadelphia"
"the slogan 'no taxation without representation' was coined by the Pennsylvania Assembly in 1768"
"begun in 1920, Pittsburg's KDKA was the first commercial radio station in the U.S."
"this state is the largest producer of steel in the U.S."
"completed in 1951, the Pennsylvania Turnpike is the nation's first multilane highway"
"there are more public forests here than in any other northeastern state"

Pennsylvania is the last of the 18 States of Bean Mugs (including the two prototypes of Illinois and Washington).

Pennsylvania has been known as the Keystone State since 1802, based in part upon its central location among the original Thirteen Colonies forming the United States. Another one of Pennsylvania's nicknames is the Quaker State; in colonial times, it was known officially as the Quaker Province, in recognition of Quaker William Penn's First Frame of Government constitution for Pennsylvania that guaranteed liberty of conscience. He knew of the hostility Quakers faced when they opposed religious ritual, taking oaths, violence, war and military service, and what they viewed as ostentatious frippery.

When the Founding Fathers of the United States were to convene in Philadelphia in 1774, 13 colonies sent representatives to the First Continental Congress. The First Continental Congress drew up and signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, but when that city was captured by the British, the Continental Congress escaped westward, meeting at the Lancaster courthouse on Saturday, 27 September 1777, and then to York. There they drew up the Articles of Confederation that formed 13 independent colonies into a new nation.

Under the Articles of Confederation, from 1781 to 1788, Congress convened in Philadelphia; Princeton, New Jersey; Annapolis, Maryland; Trenton, New Jersey; and New York. Since the U.S. Congress was established by the Constitution in 1789, it has convened in three locations: New York (from 4 March 1989 to 12 August 1790), Philadelphia (6 December 1790 to 14 May 1800), and its permanent home in Washington, D.C. (since 17 November 1800).

Pennsylvania became the second state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on 12 December 1787, five days after Delaware became the first. Philadelphia also served as the nation’s first capital city, before the seat moved to Washington D.C. in 1800.

Some other facts:
- The Battle of Gettysburg - the major turning point of the Civil War - took place near Gettysburg.
- Pennsylvania was also the home of the first commercially drilled oil well. In 1859, near Titusville, Pennsylvania, Edwin L. Drake successfully drilled the well, which led to the first major oil boom in United States history.
- The Rocky Steps is the nickname given to the front steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A bronze statue of Rocky was briefly placed at the top of the steps for the filming of ‘Rocky III’. This statue is now located at the bottom right of the steps and is a popular photo-op for visitors.
