Sydney is the most populous city in Australia and the state capital of New South Wales. Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast of the Tasman Sea. It was established in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip, commodore of the First Fleet as a penal colony. Famous as a start place of Sydney-Hobart Yaht race - widely considered to be one of the most difficult yacht races in the world.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that traffic between the Sydney central business district and the North Shore. The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of both Sydney and Australia. The bridge is nicknamed "The Coathanger" because of its arch-based design. Formally opened in 1932. Since 1998 it is possible for tourists to climb the southern half of the bridge to see beauty of city panorama.
