Zhengzhou is the capital and largest city of Henan province in north-central China. A prefecture-level city, it also serves as the political, economic, technological, and educational centre of the province, as well as a major transportation hub for Central China. The city centre lies on the southern bank of the Yellow River, and is one of the Eight Great Ancient Capitals of China. With 8,6 bln inhabitants according to the 2010 census and 3,9 bln in its built-up area (6 urban districts + 5 City + 1 County), the city is one of the main built up areas of Henan region. Zhengzhou is now a rapidly growing city.

The Erqi Memorial Tower, situated in the Erqi Square in downtown Zhengzhou of Henan Province, was built on September 1971, to commemorate the setting up of Workers' Union of Beijing-Hankou Railway as well as the whole-line Communist-led strike of rail workers held at Zhengzhou Pule Park (today's Erqi Memorial Hall) on February 7, 1923. The Erqi Memorial Tower has altogether 14 storeys, totaling 63 meters in height, and is also called Twin Tower, because its body is made up of two connected quinquangular parts. A winding stair inside the tower brings you up to the top floor, where you can get a bird's-eye view of the whole city of Zhengzhou.
