Novosibirsk is the third most populous city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg and the most populous city in Asian Russia. It is the administrative center of Novosibirsk Oblast as well as of the Siberian Federal District. The city is located in the southwestern part of Siberia on the banks of the Ob River adjacent to the Ob River Valley, near the large water reservoir formed by the dam of the Novosibirsk Hydro Power Plant and occupies an area of 502.1 square kilometers. The city is informally known as the "Capital of Siberia." Novosibirsk, founded in 1893 at the future site of a Trans-Siberian Railway bridge crossing the great Siberian river of Ob, first received the name Novonikolayevsk in honor both of Saint Nicholas and of the reigning Tsar Nicholas II. The bridge was completed in the spring of 1897, making the new settlement the regional transport hub. The importance of the city further increased with the completion of the Turkestan-Siberia Railway in the early 20th century. The new railway connected Novosibirsk to Central Asia and the Caspian Sea.

Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of the most important theatres in Novosibirsk and Siberia. It is located at the center of Novosibirsk at Lenin square. The building was completed in February 1944, and the first performance was held on 12 May 1945. As of 2012, it is the largest theatre in Russia, larger than the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. After its renovation in 2005 with computerized stage equipment, at the time it became the most technically advanced in Russia. The theatre is often called the "Siberian Coliseum" because of its size and beauty. The auditorium seats more than 1,790 spectators. Its upper gallery is decorated with copies of antique Greek statues. The principal construction of the theatre building is the big dome, which is 60 metres wide and 35 metres high. The dome is a unique construction that supports itself without girders or columns. The ratio of its thickness to its radius is less than that of a chicken's egg. In front of the dome there is a large foyer, while behind it there is a 30-metre deep stage with bars rising up to 30 metres above.

Not released yet and there's no store in the entire Novosibirsk Oblast but a stock was sent to a Starbucks store in St Peterburg as a mistake, same thinks that happened for the Liege icon mug in Karlsruhe many years ago.
